G1 fails to register incoming calls - Bodad - 05-18-2025
Hi!
I've been using the G1 with 4G SIM as a gate opener for a few months now. Some time ago, the G1 stopped registering incoming calls (RING +441234567890 etc not appearing on screen) and the number was not being sent to my MQTT broker. I reflashed with the latest firmware available at the time (3.9.1) and everything started working OK again. The problem has returned. I've reflashed with the latest firmware (3.9.2) but the incoming call isn't being registered on the screen or being sent over MQTT. I can send and receive text messages OK and the 4G online signal is 64%. I can also make a test call from the G1 to my mobile which does cause my phone to ring.
When I first installed the G1, calls to it rang until I cancelled the call. Shortly after, incoming calls were rejected after 1 ring but the SSID was displayed on the screen and passed over MQTT, a better solution for my use case. The incoming calls are still rejected after 1 ring, but the call isn't being registered.
Is there something that I can do to return the incoming call/CallerID functionality?

Scratch that. I tried a different SIM and it all worked fine. It must be something about the SIM which is a provider issue, not a G1 issue. However, it would still be helpful to have a setting that allows the number to ring a set number of times (or just until the CallerID is captured) and then rejects the call.

do you means sometime, the LCD not showed ring number then rejected the call soon. You want see the incoming ring number, then rejects the call, right?

I do want to see the number (which should trigger the MQTT message) but sometimes the rejection happens before the number is registered by the G1. Having an option to reject the call after say two or three rings would be useful. I'm not sure why my G1 is rejecting calls anyway as it's supposed to be able to receive calls isn't it? I've tried the SIM in a phone and it works fine but when it's put back in the G1, it rejects the call straight away, often before the callerid is registered by the G1. Can you help?
I contacted the SIM provider who "reset" the SIM while it was powered off. That seemed to make things better but only for a couple of test calls, then the G1 went back to vary fast call rejection. Do you have set the admin phone number at here? Since the incoming number is not set as the administrator, the call will be rejected.

We've added to this thread via Whatsapp and I've sent a video. You said you'd pass on the request (to allow CallerID to be registered before hanging up) to your software developers. Do you have a timescale for an updated firmware?

The beta firmware does answer the admin phone which will allow me to send commands over the open line. However, it still rejects non-admin numbers too quickly. Can you set the device to allow the incoming call to ring twice before rejecting? That's the crux of my use case: the dialler must have time to capture the incoming CallerId and send by MQTT before rejecting the call. Thanks.
