Soil moisture sensors
#1
I bought the next sensor to experiment:

Soil Moisture Sensor
https://a.aliexpress.com/_ExqUPDK

Powered 3.3v, gnd and tried AO on AI (9-16) & DO on DI (1-8). No change seen on inputs of AIO when I dipped sensor in water and out.

Any ideas?

KC868-AIO analog input use by 0-5v dc or 4-20mA signal, make sure your sensor is this type.

My sensor is 0-5v.
Actually when I check with my multimeter I see 0.52v dipped in water and 3.08v out of water.

But when I plug the Analog in to Analog in 1-8, I do not see any changes in voltage in AI1-AI8.

I use the GND of analog and power from 3.3v.

Why?

My troubleshooting:

I tried a voltage/current generator (https://a.aliexpress.com/_EwgS75o) with external power source and I get voltage measurement on my board (868-AIO), so board is working. Also tried DI and works but that doesn’t matter.

I rechecked my soil sensor output with multimeter (when NOT connected with 868-AIO) and sensor output still works.
I tried to take sensor’s GND both from main GND of board and AI GND. Same result. No input from sensor into board.

I connected the DO of sensor to board and board reacts (change in voltage) to signal. Only of course 2 voltages not an analog out.

I messed around with sensor's potentiometer, still nothing.

I tried external power source to 4volts still the same. No input in any channel I try in the board, normal input on multimeter. Inputs of board working.

My only idea is if I can “multiply” reading of input but does not make any sense.

Any ideas?

The sensor's load-bearing capacity is weak, please choose a high-quality sensor. only 1usd for sensor, it's too cheap solution.
this is our sensor: https://shop.kincony.com/products/soil-t...ity-sensor

How the load bearing capacity of a sensor affects that the 868-AIO does not measure input from a sensor?

Is ot possoble that it need attenuation amd/or multiply of input?

Also if we need 10 soil sensors, we cannot pay 600usd + shipping, only for your sensors. Way too expensive.

how long cable you are using?

20cm cable. Practically to test tge sensor and inputs.

it's too long.

20 CENTIMETERS! Not meters.
