How Do You Handle Relay Control When Wi-Fi Goes Down?
#1
Hi everyone,

I'm working on a home automation setup using a KinCony ESP32 relay board with Home Assistant. Most of my automations currently run through Home Assistant, but I'm wondering what happens when the Wi-Fi or server connection goes down.

I'd like basic functions such as lights and switches to keep working locally, even if Home Assistant becomes temporarily unavailable.

Is it possible to configure the relays to work independently using ESPHome, or would it be better to handle this directly in the ESP32 code?

I'd be interested to hear how others have set up reliable local control, especially if you've managed to combine physical wall switches with Home Assistant automations.

Any examples or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

switch panel work locally in ESP32, not need use network, so home assistant broken or controller no network , also can use.
suggest you create IFTTT for automation, so that running on ESP32 locally.

Hello,

You should run Ethernet cables instead of wifi for this, with statically assigned IP addresses, so that the system keeps working even without the router or wifi.

Also, I have a separate physical network (wifi + switch + cables) for the home automation, and another one (wifi + switch + cables) for my needs.

Finally, indeed, you could have wired wall switches which connect directly to the Kincony boxes, and you can link switches and relays in the box using ESPHome or the KCS firmware.
