I have a KC868-6 V1.3 board. I live in New Zealand where AS923 requires 915Mhz frequency. Can the SX1262 board be used in place of the SX1278 module? Pinouts may be different firmware might need modification?

yes, you can replace with different frequency module, you can write your own arduino source code.
KCS v2 not support to use lora. KCS v3 for KC868-A6v3 board support lora.

Sorry that my question may appear naive but does this mean I can upgrade the firmware of my V1.3 board to V3 to use Lora or must I replace my entire board with a V3 model

KCS v3 firmware MUST use KC868-A6v3 PCB (it's blue color pcb)
