RS485 in Home Assistant / B16 / KC868-HAV2
#1
Have a fresh B16M with latest firmware, has auto discovered by MQTT in Home Assistant.

Also have a KC868-HAv2 wired as per examples.  I can see the button inputs when using the PC software.

I have turned on RS485 in B16M protocol page with the same settings as per the KC868-HAv2.

How do I achieve the next step of having these button inputs active in Home Assistant - please ELI5.

if you want HAv2 work with B16M directly without home assistant, just download KCS v3 firmware, set the RS485 mode= "MODBUS-HA".
if you want integrate HAv2 to home assistant directly, let home assistant manager HAv2, you can see these video tour :

we suggest you let HAv2 work with B16M directly, so that if home assistant broken, also work well.

Thankyou;

1) To confirm that HAv2 is working correctly natively in B16M modbus-HA , should I see the input activity on the monitor page?  Or how?

2) So to be clear, it's not possible to expose HAv2 inputs to Home Assistant with MQTT?

3) I am happy with the KCS firmware running on the B16M, if I follow the instructions for ESPhome update of the B16M to enable HAv2 inputs in Home Assistant, does this have other impact about the normall B16M MQTT auto-discovery?

1: HAv2 just work with digital output directly, not seen as INPUT in MONITOR webpage.
2: not support now.
3: ESPHome and KCS v3 firmware can't work at the same time.
maybe in future, we will update KCS v3 firmware , support HAv2 expose to home assistant as BINARY sensor.

I see - well that's disappointing as the intended use case isn't possible.  Hope you can update KCS in the near future, thankyou.

Instead of using the B16M, what would be the most cost effective, plug and play Kincony device to integrate with HomeAssistant using ESP firmware if I want to persevere with the HAv2 solution?

if you want HAv2 integrate to home assistant by RS485, it's ok, we have video tour about it.
