You are best to install the new firmware using the USB connection. Maybe you can install via ethernet but the board isnt running ESPHome firmware, its the Kincony firmware.
Just use USB, thats wht i did here

right, use USB-C cable to download. not need to use "KCS" firmware. there is two way add A16 to home assistant.
1: download "KCS" to ESP32, integrate A16 to home assistant by MQTT.
2: use ESPHome download kincony's esphome config yaml file.
if you want easily, just use ESPHome is ok.

2: use ESPHome download kincony's esphome config yaml file.
Is there any documentation on how to do this?

it's very easy, just click your "ESPHome" menu in your left window, create a device by "ESP32", "Edit" replace all code with kincony's yaml file then download it . you can try ,if you really can't do that, when we have free time, make a video tour for you.

Okay, I got Home Assistant to communicate with my A16 via MQTT, but how do I get it to show up in the Overview tab in HA?

edit "dashboard", add cards, add your A16 OUTPUT and INPUT entity.
