How to Set Up MQTT for Monitoring and Controlling Devices Across Multiple Sites and I
Posted by: engrezk - 05-10-2025, 05:54 AM - Forum: DIY Project - Replies (3)

Hello everyone,
I am working on a project where I need to monitor and control multiple devices located across different geographic sites (each site has its own independent internet connection).
I am planning to use MQTT as the main communication protocol and Home Assistant as the central management platform.
Currently, I have Home Assistant running with Mosquitto Broker installed on the same server.
I want to securely and reliably connect all remote devices to this MQTT environment over the internet.
My questions are:

  • What are the proper steps to set up MQTT so that each remote device can send and receive data with Home Assistant across different networks?
  • How can I ensure secure communication (especially since the devices are not on a single local network)?

"KCS" v3.9.2 firmware BIN file download
Posted by: admin - 05-09-2025, 12:34 PM - Forum: "KCS" v3 firmware - Replies (2)

v3.9.2 improvement:
1. KinCony G1 controller sensor gpio adds options for GPIO13, 14, and 21.
2. Sensor will automatically retry after initialization fails.
3. After the device is powered off, the sensor corresponding to Home Assistant will automatically become unavailable within 5 minutes.
4. After the Sensor device is removed, it will automatically enter the uninitialized state.
5. Fix the problem of repeated reporting of Home assistant MQTT.
6. Sensor initialization retry & Home assistant status support "Unavailable" change

  I2C logic levels
Posted by: Fribse - 05-08-2025, 08:37 PM - Forum: Development - Replies (9)

Hi,
The I2C conector on the KC868-6 has a 3.3v pin for power. I have a PN532 RFID reader that I want to connect to the I2C bus, however the PN532 needs 5 volts. Can an I2C device with 5V logic level be connected safely to the I2C bus?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

  Free sample
Posted by: MrJelly - 05-07-2025, 06:49 PM - Forum: Apply for free sample product - No Replies

Hello Kincony Team,
My name is Bart, and I am currently in the exciting process of building my new home. I am very interested in integrating smart home technology throughout and am seriously considering Kincony as the primary manufacturer for these devices, with a particular focus on wired Ethernet-connected devices, not Tuya.
As I am in the early stages of designing the complete electronic and electric wiring from scratch, having the opportunity to test some of your products firsthand would be incredibly beneficial. My preference is to explore your wired Ethernet options for robust and reliable connectivity.
Based on the "Apply For Free Sample of KinCony Product" page, I would like to request a sample to evaluate. While my current situation doesn't perfectly align with the listed conditions, I believe it could potentially fall under category B - "Start a Project." My project is the complete smart integration of my new home, and testing your wired Ethernet devices would be a crucial first step in this endeavor. I plan to thoroughly document my integration process and potentially share my experiences with the wider community as my project progresses, focusing on the benefits and implementation of a wired smart home system.
Would it be possible to receive a sample of a wired Ethernet-connected Kincony product suitable for smart home integration for testing in this context? I am particularly interested in exploring devices that do not rely on the Tuya platform.
Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Bart

A16v3 cannot use multiple digital output on one load?
Posted by: tomori_nao - 05-06-2025, 08:53 AM - Forum: KC868-A16v3 - Replies (1)

Hi. I have bought your A16v3 and install your KCSv3 on it. I am making a Door entrance and alarm system for my shop/house using your A16v3 board with Home Assistant. For now I test with one door and one buzzer, later I add more door window sensor.

I am trying two different digital output setting for one buzzer. Meaning I connect two digital output wire to one buzzer as shown in picture above.

I use DO1 for alarm sound. When night time and shop is closed, if someone open the door, the buzzer will turn on continuous.

I use DO2 for notification beep sound during the day, when shop is opened and customer open the door it will play a short beep. Because I want a short beep, i set it to delay with 3x100ms.

When I connect the board as shown in picture above, the KCSv3 become buggy. It become slow to load, freeze or crash and not responding to click. And when it on the buzzer in IFTT or Home Assistant automation, it doesn't follow my setting as above, it just on for two or three seconds then it off. I have to factory reset the board to make it ok again. If I connect only one digital output to my buzzer, it work OK.

So does this mean I cannot connect two digital output to one load? I have to use two or more buzzer and connect separately for each different type of programming?

Proof of concept a32 pro alternative
Posted by: Rbe - 05-05-2025, 08:06 PM - Forum: DIY Project - Replies (1)

I am planning to use the a32 pro for a project
But before buying the board is there a cheaper version with less io that I can use to test if the board is something for us to work with.   So same functionality as the a32 pro but less io
